The Legacy Golf Course in Lakewood Ranch is soon the change hands. Due to the slowing economy the number of rounds being played have been down. The current debt to Textron Financial is not being adequitly serviced under the current rate of play. The course is not expected to close but the course will no longer be by Troon.
The 12th annual Pug Parade will be February 21st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Greenbrook adventure park in eastern Lakewood Ranch. This event is fun for the entire family. The store which is located at 5251 University parkway is open from 9 am to 9 p.m. Weekdays and Saturday and from 10 am to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Fresh Market focuses on perishable goods such meats, fish and garden produce in the style of traditional European markets. Santa made an appearance this morning at the Farmers Market on Main Street in Lakewood Ranch. Many enjoyed the farm fresh produce that he brought. The Farmers Market is open every Saturday morning till 1P.M. beginning in November through April. Local vendors bring fresh organically grown produce and products not commonly found in the big box stores.
The official grand opening of the Lakewood Ranch Post Office is today at 1:30 P.M. The new postal facility is located at 5910 Post Boulevard which is just east of Lorraine Road on State Road 70.

It has long been rumored the Neiman Marcus may come to Sarasota and now it is reality. Neiman Marcus has entered into a deal with Benderson Development to occupy to a new 80,000 square foot store at the University Town Center Mall. Developer Pat Neal indicated that home sales in May improved 15% over 2005. More importantly, sales in May were up 300% over May 2006. Homes sold in May were in the Lakewood Ranch neighborhoods of Thornhill, Edenmore, Wexford, Silverwood, Forest Creek, Wisteria Park and the Country Club at Lakewood Ranch.
